The National Union of Healthcare Workers (NUHW) is searching for a talented, hard-working individual committed to building a powerful and democratic union. The successful candidate for this position will have organizing experience, preferably in labor. They will be values-driven, self-motivated, and resourceful.

About the New Organizing Department

The New Organizing team fields inquiries from healthcare workers who are not yet unionized, then helps those workers to build winning campaigns that in turn set them up to win life-transforming contracts. Staff who work on this team must be patient, adaptable and energized by fast-moving, worker-led campaigns. A New Organizing team member may be assigned to work on external or internal organizing campaigns and may report to the director or a designated lead.

Qualifications

• Ability to motivate and lead workers in struggle
• Effective communication skills – listening, spoken, and written
• Capacity to establish and cultivate relationships with people from diverse backgrounds
• 2-year minimum experience in labor organizing or relevant field of organizing
• Fluency in Spanish
• Proficiency in computer applications including Gmail, Word, Excel, and use of the Internet
• Willingness to work long hours, including evenings and weekends
• Able to spend long periods of time driving and working on the road
• Must have a car, driver license, adequate insurance, and a cell phone with email capability

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary: $70,936-113,088
