Therapy Administrative Assistant Location Harker Heights, TX :

BASIC FUNCTION

The Therapy Administrative Assistant is responsible for assisting the Director of Rehab (DOR) in planning and organizing rehabilitation programs, services and personnel, in a manner that supports the goals of the designated facility while meeting federal and state regulations and the state specific practice acts. The Therapy Administrative Assistant assists the therapist and assistants with patient, client, and team member related activities as directed by the Director of Rehab (DOR). The Therapy Administrative Assistant will adhere to the SRS Values - Professionalism, Wellness, Collaboration, Compassion and Distinction.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assists DOR in managing the rehabilitation program for designated facilities to meet clinical and operational needs
  • Supports DOR in timely communication and distribution of new policies, procedures, and correspondence to team members
  • Communicates effectively with patients, clients, and team members regarding specific programs, goals, objectives, problems and successes
  • Coordinates with DOR in reviewing medical records assuring federal and state requirements and conditions of participation for Medicare, Medicaid, and other alternative payment models are met
  • Displays appropriate written and verbal communication skills

  • Coordinates and assists DOR in orientation of new team members to facility and ensures completion of ongoing departmental training
  • Develops and maintains an organized filing and tracking system for all assigned programs
  • Demonstrates computer proficiency in Outlook, Excel, and Word and demonstrates willingness to enhance and develop computer skills including facility EMR, SRSU, SRS Lounge
  • Monitors staff and contractor productivity and alerts DOR when levels drop below clinical and financial goal
  • Ensures daily and weekly reporting accuracy of treatments provided by each disciplin
  • Participates in meetings as assigned by managemen
  • Consistently attends work and provides appropriate notice for scheduled PTO

The Therapy Administrative Assistant is at high risk for exposure to blood and body fluids.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

High School graduate or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE

Previous experience in office environment preferred. Previous experience in patient/resident care in a nursing center, hospital or rehabilitation center preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Works in well-lighted/ventilated office and therapy areas.
  • Sitting, standing, bending, lifting and moving intermittently during working hours.
  • Subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Involved with patients/residents, family members, personnel, etc., under all conditions/circumstances.
  • Subject to hostile and emotionally upset patients/residents, family members, etc.
  • Communicates with the medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department supervisors.
  • Willingness to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
  • Must be constantly alert for patient's/resident's safety.
  • Subject to falls, burns from equipment, infectious diseases, odors, etc., throughout the workday.
  • Subject to lifting, carrying and supporting patients/residents.
  • Able to travel between facilities as indicated by Supervisor.
  • Mobile phone use is only permitted during break and non paid allocated lunch times. Phones should be kept on vibrate at all times.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to move (walk, stoop, bend, stand, sit push, pull, lift) intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to speak the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Must possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately, so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with patients, clients and team members.
  • Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility.
  • Must be able to lift patients/residents, medical equipment, supplies, etc. to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to drive a motor vehicle.
