Humana is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join our team. The Senior Tax Accountant dedicated to Income Tax Accounting, will support the tax accounting team by analyzing and interpreting tax laws, regulations, GAAP, and Statutory tax accounting principles, to ultimately calculate the income taxes that are reported in Humana's SEC filings. The associate will assist in the application of the tax accounting concepts of ASC 740 and SSAP 101 to the results of operations for both our non-regulated and regulated business entities. This involves the calculation of book/tax differences for the preparation of quarterly tax provisions, the development of federal and state currently payable amounts, the tracking of deferred tax balances between the book and tax bases of assets and liabilities and application of deferred tax accounting in the acquisitions and dispositions of businesses, with respect to both our SEC-filed and NAIC statutory statements. Use your skills to make an impact Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree 5+ years of relevant tax experience GAAP ASC 740 tax accounting experience or knowledge Experience with predicting liabilities for Federal and/or State tax Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organization skills - able to manage tax processes, develop work plans, meet deadlines and coordinate with others Experience with computerized tax software and research programs Knowledge of federal and state tax law and current developments Strong Excel proficiency Preferred Qualifications Certified Public Accountant Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance preferred Master's Degree in Business Administration or a related field Statutory SSAP 101 tax accounting experience or knowledge Good working knowledge of OneSource Tax Provision software Additional Information The workstyle for this role, if one lives within a commutable distance, (within 50 miles) to the downtown Louisville, KY office, will be hybrid home/office - 2-3 days in office. If ones does not live within a commutable distance to the Louisville office, the workstyle will be fully remote, however the candidate must be able to work within the EST or CST time zone. Work-At-Home Requirements To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates' ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates must meet the following criteria: At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested. Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership. Associates who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense. Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job. Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 Pay Range The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc. $69,800 - $96,200 per year This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
