Job Description Position Description: Senior Scientist, Microbiology (Lab Lead) - Analytical Research & Development (Onsite) Small Molecule Analytical Research and Development (SMARD) is seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist -Microbiologist to join the growing Microbiology Center of Excellence (COE).- This position is responsible for supporting the full company's Portfolio which includes small molecules, biologics, and vaccines.
Responsibilities include supporting the rapidly growing pipeline via collaboration with stakeholders for various projects, routine testing, validations, and implementation of alternate micro methods. While working within a fast-paced, integrated, multidisciplinary team environment, the candidate is expected to have a strong working knowledge of theories, practices and procedures in discipline and will build their own team effectiveness skills.
This position is based at the Rahway, New Jersey site.
Position Qualifications: Education Minimum Requirement: - BS in Microbiology or related Biological Sciences and at least 7+ years industry experience
- MS degree with 4+ years industry experience
Required Experience and Skills: - Extensive knowledge of basic microbiology and aseptic practices with experience in alternate microbial methods in a GMP environment
- Knowledge and experience with manufacturing and GMP product testing
- Experience in leading and supporting quality investigations and change management
- Experience with internal / external audit process and authoring responses to observations
- Familiar with data integrity principals
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent organizational skills to multi-task with a desire and willingness to learn, contribute and lead.
- Track-record of independent problem-solving.
- Applying microbiology expertise as a subject matter expert for quality control
- Interacting with internal and external partners to foster collaborations and actively contribute to the continuing establishment of our Research & Development Division Micro CoE
- Ability to think logically and be proactive under pressure
- Effective communicator and deep technical expertise in science, to be able to share and communicate that knowledge through training of analysts
- The functional lab area lead will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, maintaining quality control, and managing a team of lab technicians.
- The lab lead will be expected to actively participate in lab work, performing experiments, conducting tests, and analyzing data as required.

- Contributes to experimental design, execution, and data interpretation for projects via individual contribution
- Represents functional area on working group team
- Understands the needs of larger project team and drives innovation with direction
- Trains team members for GMP testing
- Cultivates and leverages working relationships with stakeholders within the department and across the organization
- Drives scientific, technology, and engineering innovation with internal / externals partners
- Acts as a leader and demonstrates inclusive behaviors
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of lab staff, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements within the laboratory.
- Provide technical support and guidance to lab staff, assisting with troubleshooting and experimental design.

The Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job in certain states and cities within the United States. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate's relevant skills, experience, and education.
Expected US salary range:
$111,400.00 - $175,300.00
