Position Description Advertised Job Summary The Senior Compliance & Tax Accountant will add value to a supportive, flexible, and rewarding team while gaining experience with higher education and exposure to growth and development opportunities. Performs tax analysis and accounting for the University through researching domestic and international tax matters, processing filings and remittances, and implementing applicable policies within the University Controller's Office. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree and 3 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience. Preferred Qualifications - PeopleSoft or other ERP experience preferred
- Experience with Tax Navigator, MyDORWAY, or other tax-specific software products preferred.
- Higher education experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Knowledge of the principles, practices, theories, and terminology of accounting and tax.

Job Duties Job Duty Analyzes, reviews, and prepares monthly state tax returns, coordinating with campuses and departments as needed. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 25 Job Duty Manages the coordination, distribution, collection, and analysis of tax questionnaires to identify activities and areas subject to tax compliance. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 20 Job Duty Manages the remittance of state and federal payroll tax withholding payments to the appropriate government agencies, ensuring compliance and timeliness of payments in coordination with Payroll. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 15 Job Duty Manages the analysis and preparation of tax withholding and exemption forms for the University in coordination with the supplier and compliance teams. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 15 Job Duty Analyzes international supplier payments, and accompanying tax treaties and immigration documentation, to determine the tax implications and ensure compliance. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 10 Job Duty Manages the dedicated tax mailbox and responds to inquiries, collaborating with others and researching tax matters as necessary. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 10 Job Duty Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates existing policies, procedures, programs, plans, systems, and operations to develop improvements in efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity.
