Job Description
SUMMARY The Senior Accountant is an integral part of the Finance Department and is responsible, under
supervision, for reporting, analyzing, and interpreting accounting information. Responsibilities include,
but not limited to, maintenance and reconciliation of general ledger accounts and Excel spreadsheets,
posting cash receipts, preparation of transaction journal entries, credit card expense reconciliation,
bank reconciliation, monthly financial report preparation and analytical review of accounts, and support
processing payables. The Senior Accountant requires upmost attention to detail to ensure accuracy, can work in a fast-paced environment with multiple entities, and work diligently to meet deadlines and produce timely financial reports that are compliant with GAAP accounting.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES - Process payroll and validate payments with supporting documents including review of add,
- delete and changes.
- Record payroll journal entries and validate their correct allocation to appropriate entity and
- department.
- Maintain and update payroll master report that ties to the financial statements.
- Maintain and update employer accounts in all applicable states and counties and confirm
- changes are performed on a timely basis to avoid penalties (unemployment, disability, county
- taxes, etc.)
- Analyze benefit invoices and ensure that proper deductions have been taken from payroll
- run.
- Keep track of COBRA payments and reconcile GL balance.
- Validate 401(k) match contributions and collaborate in annual plan audit.
- Assist in the calculation and validation of variable compensation payments.
- Assist in the calculation, validation, and accounting of bonus plan.
- Reconcile GL account for employee benefits to validate proper payroll deductions, request
- enrollment updates as necessary and track adjustments from benefit providers.
- Reconcile GL accounts for payroll compensation, taxes and accruals and reports variances
- to budget and prior periods.
- Track and reconcile other accounts receivable.
- Maintain and update prepaid schedule and record monthly amortization journal entries
- (Insurance, Worker's Compensation, Other).
- Reconcile GL account for security deposits.
- Reconcile investments in subsidiary and goodwill.
- Maintain and update fixed asset schedule and record monthly depreciation journal entries.
- Prepare annual property tax returns.
- Prepare and update schedules of other accrued liabilities.
- Reconcile GL account for accrued insurance.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS - 3+ years related hands on accounting experience.
- Working knowledge of accounting procedures and GAAP.
- Hands-on experience with cloud based general ledger accounting systems (preferably NetSuite or
- Sage Intacct, etc.)
- Strong analytical, organization and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy and maintain department confidence.
- Able to multitask and prioritize responsibilities to meet hard deadlines.
- Able to work in a fast paced environment and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Excellent written, communication and data entry skills.
- Proficient experience with MS Office Excel; creating and maintaining complex spreadsheets.
- Proficient experience in Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and Word.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
