They ensure that meals meet nutritional standards, address medical and dietary needs, and promote healthy eating habits within the facility. Key Responsibilities Assess Nutritional Needs: Evaluate the dietary requirements of youth, considering age, medical conditions, cultural preferences, and behavioral health concerns. Develop and Implement Meal Plans: Create balanced, cost-effective meal plans that comply with federal and state regulations while addressing the specific needs of youth in detention. Monitor Food Service Operations: Work with kitchen staff to ensure meals are prepared and served safely, meeting nutritional and food safety standards. Educate and Counsel Youth: Provide nutrition education and one-on-one counseling to promote healthy eating habits and address concerns such as obesity, malnutrition, and eating disorders.
