What you'll do on a typical day:

This full-time faculty position is a nine-month position, requiring a presence on campus with the faculty member’s primary efforts focused on teaching and learning, academic excellence and student success. Primary responsibilities include designing and implementing learning strategies for students in the Nursing Program. The Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). In addition, ADN and Practical Nursing Education (PNE) programs are approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON). This position reports directly to the Director of Nursing. DDCC faculty members have the following responsibilities including, but not limited to: 
  • Promote DDCC mission, vision and values
  • Teach assigned courses at various locations to meet program needs, including, but not limited to day, evening, weekend, and online
  • Ensure that each class session contains essential curricular components, has appropriate content and pedagogy, and maintains currency
  • Evaluate student progress and provide appropriate, timely feedback
  • Provide and/or facilitate quality experiences in the learning environment(s) to meet program needs
  • Develop course syllabi and provide appropriate written information to students concerning course evaluation and criteria
  • Incorporate appropriate instructional technology to enhance student learning 
  • Assist in the evaluation of courses and programs
  • Prepare and submit instructional records, reports and grades established by institutional policy.
  • Participate in professional development to enhance instructional and technical skills
  • Attend appropriate internal and external meetings
  • Assist in student recruitment and retention
  • Maintain accessibility to students, faculty and staff
  • Maintain a high level of sensitivity, understanding, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned which support the mission and initiatives of the College.

Successful candidates will possess:

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in nursing with a functional emphasis in nursing education from a regionally accredited institution or Master's Degree in nursing from a regionally accredited institution with documentation of North Carolina Board of Nursing approved education in teaching and learning; OR
  • Bachelor's Degree in nursing with a functional emphasis in nursing education from a regionally accredited institution and commitment to obtain a master's degree within 3 years
  • Active unencumbered license or multistate licensure privileges to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina
  • Minimum of two calendar years of full-time employment or the equivalent in clinical nursing practice as a registered nurse

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with face to face, online instruction and simulation
  • Community College teaching experience 
  • Experience using a Learning Management System, such as Moodle, to deliver course content
