Job Description
The selected candidate will be part of a dynamic team providing technical and engineering services to USN/USMC Air Traffic Control Systems. Will apply electrical and electronic theory and related knowledge, usually under the direction of engineering staff to design, build, repair, calibrate and modify electrical components, circuitry, controls, and machinery for subsequent evaluation and use by engineering staff in making engineering design decisions.
The hourly rate for this position is set by the Dept of Labor and is not negotiable. Current rate is $26.07 (Tech III) / $32.30 (Tech IV).
This position is located in scenic and historic San Diego, CA. There is no monetary relocation assistance budgeted for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to San Diego or surrounding areas.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills High School Diploma and completion of electronics training and/or electronics experience
Completion of U.S. Navy "C" School and/or equivalent
At least 4 years of experience in electronic systems, including installing electronic systems equipment and designing, preparing and modifying engineering documents and drawings
Ability to provide electronic, telephonic, and on-site fleet support on the operation and maintenance of military radar and navigational aids
Ability to develop training curriculum and materials for fleet training evolutions
Ability to train others on the use and maintenance of electronic systems
Experience with test plans, procedures, schematics, technical manuals, drawings and wire lists
Experience reviewing, writing and updating technical documentation
Ability to conduct Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) level repair of electronic systems
Familiarity with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP)
Knowledge on the proper us of common and specialty hand tools, general purpose electronic test equipment (GPETE) and special purpose electronic test equipment (SPETE)
Ability and willingness to travel to CONUS/OCONUS locations (up to 25%)
Experience in maintenance, repair, restoration, test and evaluation of Air Traffic Control Systems
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills Associate degree in Science or Technical field
Experience using Microsoft Office software
Familiarity with the operation of Unix and/or Linux software
Flexibility to learn and utilize other systems supported by this competency
Pay Information This position is covered by a wage law called the McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA). The wage range for this position is determined by the Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor on a contract-by-contract basis.
