Job Description

Encore Communications is seeking a talented Front End Website Developer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will collaborate with our account and creative teams to design, develop, and maintain modern, visually compelling websites using Drupal and Statamic—from initial concept through final launch.

We operate strictly within a waterfall methodology, so we need a developer with experience throughout the full lifecycle of website development. The successful candidate will be comfortable taking ownership of every phase, without relying on agile or team-based approaches. This means you’ll be responsible for transforming client needs into fully functional, responsive websites, managing everything from architecture and design to coding and deployment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the entire end-to-end development process of websites, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
• Develop responsive, high-performance websites with a focus on usability and scalability using Drupal and Statamic .
• Ensure seamless handoff between each phase of the waterfall process, from design to launch.
• Stay current with best practices in website development and emerging technologies.

Note: WordPress experience is not applicable for this role.

Requirements

Experience Requirements

• Three years of front end website development

• Proven experience independently completing the full website development lifecycle from conception to deployment.

• Demonstrated expertise in developing websites using a waterfall methodology.

• Proficient in translating design mockups into interactive designs using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

• Experience creating, editing, or modifying templates for CMS or web development frameworks, other than WordPress.

• Skilled in programming interactions using JavaScript and/or libraries such as React, Vue, or Svelte.

• Strong knowledge of building websites optimized for browser and device compatibility.

• Experience testing websites for cross-browser, cross-platform, and cross-device consistency.

• Familiarity with testing for accessibility and compliance with regional or domain-specific standards.

• Experience interfacing with back-end technologies and systems.

Skill Requirements

Strong understanding and knowledge of web development markup and languages:

HTML

• Strong knowledge of HTML5 syntax.
• Understanding of the semantic meaning of all HTML elements, including media and responsive images.
• Familiarity with semantic markup for displaying lists, tabular data, forms, articles, etc.
• Ability to hand-code markup.

CSS

• Expertise in specifying different CSS for various media, devices, and displays.
• Knowledge of best practices for CSS file organization and structure.
• Ability to define, combine, and group CSS selectors for HTML elements, IDs, classes, pseudo-classes, and child or sibling elements.
• Understanding of CSS specificity.
• Proficiency in the syntax of CSS declarations, properties, and attributes.
• Strong knowledge of the CSS box model and methods for CSS positioning (absolute and relative).
• Proficiency with CSS Custom Properties (variables).
• Familiarity with CSS preprocessors such as Sass and LESS.
• Experience using CSS modules for file splitting and organization.

JavaScript

• Strong knowledge of operators, variables, data types, objects, properties, and methods.
• Familiarity with control structures such as objects, functions, conditional statements, arrays, loops, and expressions.
• Experience with forms and regular expression validation, as well as submitting data.
• Proficiency in applying logical operators and conditional statements.
• Knowledge of the DOM, HTML objects, and their properties.
• Understanding of ES5/ES6 syntax.
• Familiarity with JS build tools such as Rollup.js, ESBuild, Vite, and Webpack.

PHP

• Knowledge of modern PHP practices.
• Experience with Object-Oriented Programming.

Additional Skills

• Strong expertise in the Laravel and/or Drupal frameworks and CMS.
• Linux server management experience.
• Experience with MySQL database queries and management.
• Proficiency with Node.js development.
• Knowledge of decoupled SPA applications.
• Experience with web application deployment, CI/CD, and DevOps.

Other Requirements

• Must be a US citizen or permanent resident authorized to work in the US.

• Must speak fluent English

• Must reside in DFW or Longview area.

• May work remotely if able to attend key meetings in Longview.

• Must include sample work or a portfolio for the application process.
