The Position

We seek a full-time designer with 2-5 years of demonstrated design experience. The Experience Designer I will work with and learn from our designers, developers, and producers as we work on the next generation of interactive exhibits and installations for world-renowned museums, zoos, aquariums, and Fortune 500 companies. The Experience Designer I will help develop interactive exhibits, educational games, and other applications using a variety of large-scale hardware including large displays, projection & projection mapping, and video/LED walls. In addition, we often use sensors, touchless devices, microcontrollers, LED lights, and other IoT devices. The ideal candidate has a design background, is collaborative, and is quick to learn new techniques and technologies. While we sometimes design for the Web or mobile, it is more common that we design for interactive spaces such as museum exhibitions or corporate installations. We are looking for a designer who is interested in working with us from concept to final design on a variety of interactive exhibits.

This is a full-time, onsite position in Corrales, New Mexico. All of our employees are 100% vaccinated (you will need to be too) and while there are some work-at-home opportunities this job is an onsite position (it is to design in-person experiences after all). We are a fast-paced company with high expectations; we seek someone as passionate about the work as we are. Our developers collaborate with the rest of the Creative Services team and our hardware and fabrication groups, so strong writing, communication, and interpersonal skills are required. As a relatively small company (around 50 people) that is fast growing and has a diverse set of projects (and unique products), we seek individuals who are flexible and have a diverse skill set.

The Experience Designer I must be team-oriented, consistently creating compelling designs, and enthusiastic about upholding Ideum's standards through quality assurance of all creative deliverables. They will work with project teams to assist in the conception, design, and presentation of digital experiences that connect with visitors. The ideal candidate is well-versed in layout, composition, and typography, and is extremely self-motivated and dependable under tight deadlines. We can provide training to learn more about designing interactive digital and in some cases physical exhibits and installations.

Requirements

• Demonstrated graphic design experience (portfolio)
• Demonstrated UI/UX experience (portfolio)
• Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud apps
• Experience with Figma
• Strong conceptual and information design skills
• Experience with mobile or Web design

Benefits and Incentives

Compensation between $50,000 to $65,000 depending on experience

After 90 days of employment, this position includes paid time off, health, dental, and vision insurance, critical illness and accident insurance, life insurance, and short-term/long-term disability. Employees are eligible after one year of employment for our 401K Safe Harbor Profit Sharing Plan.
