Job Description

The Institute of Arctic Biology (IAB) is looking for a dynamic, organized, and proactive individual to serve as Executive Assistant to the Director and help manage IAB’s administrative office.  You will join a team of professionals committed to creating a welcoming and collegial environment that supports IAB’s research mission. 

The Executive Assistant provides essential functions in supporting IAB’s mission, including coordination and communication with researchers, the public, and the University of Alaska administration; providing essential administrative functions and support for IAB scientists, researchers, staff, and graduate students; assisting with navigating the university faculty review and reporting processes; organizing and publicizing events, and overseeing the website.  You will represent the Institute, work closely with the IAB Director and Executive Officer as a member of the Executive Team, and collaborate with other research units across UAF.

Minimum Qualifications:

Three years college coursework and three years progressively responsible experience as an administrative assistant or office manager, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Position Details:

This position is located on the Troth Yeddha' campus in Fairbanks. This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and a full employee benefits package .  Flexible work arrangements may be considered.  UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental, and vision care coverage.  New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule , Grade 79, based on education and experience.
