Job Description



AECOM  is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Entry Level Environmental Scientist for immediate employment in the Fort Liberty, NC office (onsite at the Directorate of Public Works).

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Utilizing basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope
  • Collecting and entering data, and applying technical principles and theories
  • Interpreting and recording data, conducting analyses, comparing findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance
  • Performing site visits and field observations
  • Working under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
  • Expertise with ESRI suite of GIS software products including ArcMap, ArcCatalog, and ArcToolbox 
  • Expertise in performing spatial analysis to calculate linear measurements as well as asset density within defined areas 

Qualifications



Minimum Requirement:

  • BA/BS + None or AA/AS (US) + 2 Years of relevant experience or HS/GED + 4 Years of relevant experience demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Due to the nature of this work, US Citizenship is required.
  • Ability to work independently to deliver GIS project deliverables and work collaboratively when necessary.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record, will be required to drive to various site locations throughout Military base to do site inspections.
  • In addition to AECOM's Pre Employment Background and Drug Screening requirements, in order to receive a security badge at the client worksite for which you are being hired to perform services, you will be required to pass the client's background requirements, which will be done after you have commenced employment and is a condition of your continued employment.
  • Physically able, with or without an accommodation, to work in indoor and outdoor environments with uneven terrain and variable outdoor conditions, including heat, and cold. 
  • Frequently (more than 50% of workday) standing/walking and performing keyboard/mouse operations. Often (25-50% of the workday) performing repetitive or fine hand movements. Occasionally (10-25% of the workday) operating vehicles and climbing stairs. Rarely (less than 10% of the workday) performing work with arms above shoulder level, repetitive bending/stooping, working alone in isolated/remote areas, and lifting less than 25 to 50 pounds.
  • This position will include wearing associated personal protective equipment including, but not limited to safety shoes/boots and hard hat.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Must be able to mobilize to Fort Liberty within a reasonable commuting distance.
  • Ability to update features and associated attributes based on conditions observed during field assessments.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Maps, and other common business software and web-based applications.
  • Experience collecting location data using mapping grade GPS and post processing data.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience conducting field work including inventories of water, wastewater, and stormwater system assets and compliance assessment.
