Job Title: Flood Mitigation Analyst (Community Rating System Specialist)

Position Overview:
We're seeking a Flood Mitigation Analyst to support the Community Rating System (CRS) program in the Hartford, CT area. The CRS is a voluntary incentive program that encourages communities to exceed minimum floodplain management requirements. As a key member of our team, you'll play a crucial role in assessing and improving flood mitigation efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct on-site visits to communities to gather flood-related information
- Prepare detailed reports following established standards
- Represent our organization at meetings with community officials
- Support the CRS program's goals of reducing flood losses, facilitating accurate insurance ratings, and promoting flood insurance awareness
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Experience with the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and floodplain management
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience in flood plain mitigation)
- Excellent customer service, mathematical, and communication skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Windows applications
- Self-motivated with meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate a strong work ethic
- Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) certification is a plus
Additional Requirements:
- Valid driver's license
- Willingness to travel overnight occasionally
- Ability to work remotely from a home office
- Residence within commutable distance of the assigned coverage territory/region
