With the assistance of a lead reviews, analyzes and approves daily bank deposit. Reviews cash receipts to determine appropriate classification (revenue, abatement, and/or reimbursement) and codes each item in compliance with FI$Cal coding. Balances deposit to the input documents submitted by other accounting units for FI$Cal. Identifies, categorizes and deposits to the General Fund and Revolving Fund monies from miscellaneous sales and collections from the field commands and other sources which includes: dishonored check fees, malicious damage/restitution, asset forfeiture monies, jury duty fees, vehicle sales, unclaimed property, deductions withheld from employee paychecks, and other miscellaneous reimbursements. Reviews cashiering input documents for accuracy as needed.
With the assistance of a lead review and analyze all aspects of dishonored checks which includes applying current buy back procedures, researching and identifying the appropriate accounts and preparing Financial Information System of California (FI$Cal) coding. In addition, prepares follow-up collection correspondence to individuals whose checks were dishonored and instructs them on how to reimburse the Department.
Posts semi-complex payments in FI$Cal for jury duty fees, malicious damage reports, and damages/restitution to state vehicles. Reconciles payment ledger of damages to state vehicles to Department of General Services’ records. Prepares adjusting entries per court settlement/orders. Review correction entries from other units for accuracy and appropriateness. If valid corrections, then approve and post correction entries in FI$Cal.
Gains a strong working knowledge regarding FI$Cal and with the close supervision of the Accounting Administrator I, assist with training and providing assistance as needed. Assist the Accounting Administrator I, Supervisor, in the development and maintenance of desk procedures and review and analyze FI$Cal reports.
